About

It is common today, if not outright popular, to take up the power of words (with the aid of the amazing reach of the internet and global telecommunications systems) and demand both less— and more, simultaneously, from our Federal Government.

There is no shortage of valid and righteous critiques to be made of the current state of the Federal system of the United States; however, what many of the popular criticisms of our system fail to account for, is the very real and very present outside force which must see consideration before we tear down our own government system.

We can no longer both set the tone for the world, and also to starve our government at home. It is easy to feel the disconnect with our Federation, and the wants/needs of our own communities… but that does not speak to the ameliorating power which we hold when we work commonly, across state lines, across regional differences, and across the lines of power. We are stronger united than we could ever be divided, and so divided we must not become.

Here we will examine arguments both in favor and in opposition to Federalism. Hopefully, by seeing where it holds up, and where holes appear, we will  be better able to recommend ameliorative structures with which to reformulate a more perfect Union of States.

One of the most incredible things about the United States of America is not some imagined “absolute current perfection”; rather, the most amazing element is the belief of Americans in an idea if Infinite Perfectibility.

We are not perfect.  We have never been perfect.  We will not be perfect.

But we will strive to improve, and to protect and to provide for the betterment of our society, of our people and of the world within which we stand.
